SIGN DESIGNER

SE Portland // Full-Time // In-Office

We are seeking to add a new team member to join our Graphic Art Department. This position requires strong creativity and design skills, with meticulous attention to detail.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The graphic designer is responsible for the development of visual concepts and designs to ensure the constructability of environmental graphics and signage.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Design high-quality, impactful signage incorporating customer provided artwork or creating from scratch.
  • Meet with project teams, clients and/or creative director to determine scope of a project.
  • Design effective and visually appealing interior and/or wayfinding systems.
  • Design within established city codes and/or property signage criteria.
  • Collaborate with production team to insure constructability and material availability.
  • Create detailed construction drawings for manufacturing.
  • Manage schedule to meet project deadlines.

COMPETENCIES

  • Flexibility to work both collaboratively and independently on projects of all scales and types.
  • Knowledge of sign materials and fabrications methods.
  • Knowledge of signage standards and requirements.
  • Experience in interior signage and wayfinding systems.
  • Proficiency in drawing to scale and familiarity with architectural construction documents, elevations, plans, and shop drawings.
  • Excellent proofreading and quality control skills.
  • Proficiency in Corel Draw, Adobe Creative Suite, SignAgent, and Microsoft products.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years of graphic design experience in the Sign or Experiential Design industries.
  • 2 or 4 year degree in design, graphics or another related field preferred.
  • Structural design experience preferred.

SIGN FABRICATOR

SE Portland // Full-Time

We are seeking a FABRICATOR with expertise in welding aluminum and steel, preferably with sign-specific experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Fabricate high quality custom signage to specification.
  • Weld aluminum and steel sheet metal.
  • Read and interpret shop drawings and engineering.
  • Operate machines such as shears, chop saw, band saw, drill press, grinder, bending breaks and shears, hand tools, and power tools to cut and shape components to specified dimensions.
  • Cut, shear, glue, bend, and sand materials.
  • Prepare signs for paint application.
  • Inspect and correct welds as necessary to meet product and quality specifications.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of sign materials and fabrication methods.
  • Ability to analyze, problem solve and troubleshoot.
  • Ability to take direction and follow guidelines as they are set-forth.
  • Deadline driven without compromising on quality.
  • Must possess a high standard of quality and safety standards.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED equivalent – required.
Fabrication (3+ years required)
Sign Industry (2+ years preferred)

MANUFACTURING PAINTER

SE Portland // Full-Time

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prepare signs for paint application including sanding, taping, and paper masking.
  • Paint detailed and large-scale signage and structures using spray gun, brushes, or paint rollers.
  • Maintain tools and equipment to ensure proper performance.
  • Store, handle, and dispose of paint, stain, varnish, and other chemicals according to established procedures.
  • Perform related duties such as mixing paint and color matching.
  • Utilize all required safety equipment and procedures in compliance with OSHA guidelines along with Security Signs safety policies.

COMPETENCIES

  • Self-driven, attention to detail, focused, and organized.
  • Ability to take direction and follow guidelines as they are set forth.
  • Must possess a high standard of quality and safety standards.

EXPERIENCE

  • Manufacturing Painting (2+ years required)
  • Sign Industry (strongly preferred)

REQUIREMENTS

  • This position requires the ability to bend, lift, and stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to move 55 lbs. and occasionally 100 lbs. of products and materials.
